The City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz has launched an interactive map in GeoVitoria that collects the 106 sculptures located in the city’s public space. The map, in addition to geolocating the pieces, collects the information and photographs from the book ‘Sculptures in public spaces of Vitoria-Gasteiz’.
“This post It is a catalog-inventory of the work sculptural located in the streets of the city, whose objective is to make them known and make an inventory of the sculptures that includes a photograph of each work, its surroundings, textures, technical data sheet and location plan,” explained City Hall in a statement.
The Councilor for Culture and Education, Sonia DÃaz de Corcuera, has highlighted that the streets of Vitoria-Gasteiz are home to “authentic artistic gems and this tool provides the opportunity to discover them, to tour the city with the help of this interactive map and get to know the sculptures in our streets while we learn about them.”
The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Employment, Commerce and Tourism, MarÃa Nanclares, for her part, has highlighted that the new map “is a more touristic resource for those who visit our city”, since “heritage is one of the great attractions of Vitoria, together with gastronomy and nature”.
“Now we can get to know it more in depth with the help of our mobile devices“, he added. Over the next week, direct access to this new resource will be incorporated into the Tourism menu available to GeoVitoria-Gasteiz.
