Andorra la VellaThe head of government, Xavier Spothas participated in the fifth Meeting of the European Political Community (CPE), which was held this Thursday at Budapest (Hungary). The head of government has taken part, together with forty European leaders and international organizations, both in the plenary session and in the meetings and gatherings to discuss the major challenges surrounding cooperation for the strengthening of Europe and the will to work constructively on transatlantic relations has been expressed.
In addition to the plenary session, spot participated in the table entitled ‘Economic security’, chaired by the Prime Minister of Latvia, Evika Silina, where connectivity between economies, the role of regional cooperation and how to guarantee economic security policies that promote competitiveness were discussed and growth. The representatives of Armenia, Bosnia, Estonia, Georgia, Moldova, Portugal, San Marino, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and the representative of NATO, as well as Andorra, took part in the round table.
In the discussion table, the importance of collaboration between countries to deal with major global challenges was highlighted. The consequences of the war conflict in Ukraine in the economic, energy and security spheres have also been addressed.
The participants agreed on the need to strengthen the competitiveness and economic resilience of the EU: on the one hand, to encourage the acceleration of innovation and support for investment in sectors such as energy and digitization and, on the other hand, to cooperate in the integration of markets and the equitable distribution of benefits. The importance of regional cooperation to promote strategic projects to promote the resilience of the European continent, promote sustainable growth and guarantee the well-being of all citizens has also been pointed out.
During the working day, the Head of Government, who has traveled to Hungary accompanied by the Secretary of State for Relations with the European Union, Landry Riba, and the Ambassador of Andorra to the EU, Vicenç Mateu , has had the opportunity to hold different meetings with their counterparts present in Budapest.
Thus, he was able to exchange with the recently appointed Minister of State of Monaco, Didier Guillaume, and with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of San Marino, Luca Beccari, the political and economic current affairs of the three countries. The three presidents have reaffirmed their commitment to continue dialogue and cooperation between the three countries that share common challenges.
The CPE was set up on the initiative of the President of the French Republic and co-prince of Andorra, Emmanuel Macron, after the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. The CPE brings together European countries with the aim of defending and securing the continent’s democratic values. The next meeting, scheduled for spring, will be held in Albania, as announced by the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama.
