The kings returned to Valencia to visit and encourage again those affected by the DANA which three weeks ago became the biggest natural disaster in recent times in Spain. They went to show solidarity, for the second time, with the neighbors who lost family members and suffered irreparable disasters in their homes or any type of property. Their majesties were welcomed shape it could well be said that apotheoticwith applause and expressions of joy as much as possible upon seeing that they are not alone.
The cities visited, Chiva and Ucléswere a tumultuous scene of the solidarity that the presence of the kings meant, talking to everyone without protocol limitationstaking an interest in each of the cases, always dramatic, encouraging them to continue working on the recovery of normality and expressing their confidence in the importance that unity implies in similar situations. A unity that, unfortunately, was missing in the worst moments.
The politicians wasted a lot of time discussing among them the small details of the disaster, when in reality their obligation was to have immediately turned to provide the necessary measures to try to help the victims without the slightest discussion. The waste of administration time involved has undoubtedly been regrettable. Avoiding a catastrophe of this nature is obviously impossible, but contributing to doing everything possible to alleviate its effects and help the victims in the first hours left much to be desired and can still be regretted.
Hence the importance of the phrase Philip VI remembering the value of unity. A unit that has not yet overcome the discrepancies among those who tried to take advantage of the collective misfortune to try to gain sympathy, assign responsibilities – what time will there be to do so if appropriate – or prevent the adversary from trying to take advantage to get votes when the time comes.
The invocation to unity, which continues to be a collective obligation, is still valid and will continue to be valid in the process that is anticipated to be long and difficult, if not impossible: soon recover the normality that nature alteredeither. The key, thinking about a quick future requires a lot of effort, but unity is key to achieving it. The king was right to remember it from his authority.
