Jorge Fabra, until now general director of the Recovery and Resilience Plan and Mechanismhas presented his resignation and this Tuesday the Council of Ministers appointed his replacement, José Ángel Alonso, until now in the General Subdirectorate of Information of European Funds.
As explained by the Ministry of Finance, Fabra has left his position “for own will” and will continue to work within this department.
José Ángel Alonso will now be in charge of managing the fourth disbursement of European funds, which the Government is negotiating with the European Commission and which would amount to 10,000 million euros.
Alonso is a Telecommunications Engineer from the University of Zaragoza, a Law graduate from UNED and an MBA from IESE Business School. He belongs to the Higher Body of Information Systems and Technologies of the State Administration. In 2021, he joined the Technical General Secretariat and currently held the position of Deputy Director General of European Funds Information Systems.
He has been advisor to the Cabinet of the Minister of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, advisor to the Cabinet of the Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, head of the Technical Cabinet of the Undersecretary of Inclusion, Security and Migration and Technical Deputy Secretary General in the Ministry of Inclusion , Social Security and Migrations.
In addition to this dismissal and appointment, the Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday the appointment of Alberto José Sereno Álvarez as new technical general secretary of the Ministry of Finance. In turn, she succeeds Marta de Andrés Novo, who has recently been appointed as the new Finance Minister in the United Kingdom.
