The Gendarmes return thirty vehicles that were going to Andorra

Andorra la VellaThe gendarmes established an equipment control on December 22 on the route to Andorra. The police carried out 330 checks on vehicles trying to go to the Principality before the road was closed due to weather conditions. The main objective was to prevent unequipped vehicles from blocking the road.

The result was that almost one in ten drivers were not wearing equipment. Of the 330 checks carried out, thirty were without any kind of element in the car to drive on snow or ice. The thirty vehicles had to go back with the corresponding fine, since it is mandatory to carry equipment at this time of the year on mountain roads.

The Prefecture asks for caution with the reopening of the 24th at 08.30h

The forecast made public by the Prefecture, if there is no worsening during the night, is that the road will reopen on Tuesday at 08.30h for light vehicles. It has been warned that it is mandatory to bring equipment when entering and leaving Andorra. The opening for heavy vehicles will not arrive until 3pm.

The Prefecture has announced that controls have been established on the RN20 and RN320 roads to prevent the passage of vehicles that do not carry equipment. A special mobilization has been made to ensure that, once the route with Andorra is reopened, it will not be blocked by stranded vehicles that do not carry equipment.
