A couple of weeks ago the alarm went off for thousands of adults who once were children who grew up watching TV series and movies. Disney Channel. The historic children’s and youth channel of The Walt Disney Company, which has been broadcast free-to-air since 2008, would no longer be available in Spain from January 2025.
The network had been broadcasting in our country for 27 years and gave us series as iconic as Hannah Montana, Lizzie McGuire either Wizards of Waverly Place; drawings that became references as Kim Possible, The patio band either Phineas and Ferb; as well as movies that became true phenomena like High School Musical, Camp Rock either The Descendants.
Also, self-produced programs Disney Spain as Art Attackwith Jordi Cruz, Class change either The tour. But, above all, a Disney generation that is now big stars such as Miley Cyrus, Zendaya, Selena Gomez, Sabrina Carpenter, Ross Lynch, Tini, or Ana Mena, among others.
The networks have been flooded these weeks with messages from nostalgic users that, although perhaps they had not seen the channel for a long time, they have remembered how important it was for them years ago.
Disney Spain wanted to reciprocate that affection with an emotional compilation video with moments from their programs accompanied by the tune of the Violetta series, in my worldplayed by Tini. Because yes, Disney Channel was our world and in it we were ourselves.
In the video, they thank all those children for having been part of their story. Of course, the beginning could not be missed with some of its stars drawing with a wand the channel’s iconic Mickey logo: “Disney Channel is all of you. Thank you for having been part of this story. Thank you for every song, for every dance, for every smile, for every surprise. Thank you for welcoming us with enthusiasm and accompanying us every day. Thank you for feeling the adventure, for putting so much emotion into it. Thank you for believing in magic, for every dream fulfilled. For making the impossible possible. Thank you for being there.”
Miley Stewart, Troy Bolton, Jake Long, Alex Russo, Kim Possible, the twins Zack and Cody, the Jonas Brothers, Mitchie Torres, Raven, Phineas and Ferb… They all thank those grown children for having accompanied them for so many years.
