The initiative seeks to put an end to the irregular practices detected in recent months, such as the recruitment of workers in precarious conditions.
according to NúñezPeruvian workers, especially in construction, are in high demand in the country, and the aim is to guarantee decent working conditions. The ambassador emphasized that this agreement could also include political consultations to formalize these practices.
In addition, the ambassador has confirmed that the reopening of an honorary consulate a Andorra is almost finished. The consul will be an Andorran citizen who will live in the Principality and will have offices to serve a Peruvian community estimated at between 600 and 1,000 people. This consulate will have the main objective of preventing labor abuses and offering support to Peruvian citizens.
Government has not yet received a formal request
Despite these proposals, the Government has reported that it has not yet received any formal request to establish this protocol, although measures have already been applied to control irregular labor practices. John Leonrepresentative of the Government, has highlighted that ex officio inspections have been intensified and that 18 inspections were opened in 2023, resulting in 8 macro files and penalties of up to 100,000 euros for infringements.
