The firefighters explained that cutting the section of pipe with John still inside was “the easiest and least distressing option.” The animal was then rushed to a local veterinarian, who sedated John. With the cat asleep, the firefighters cut the pipe to free it permanently. The animal, which is already with its owner, was unharmed.

The firefighters recounted their experience on social networks: “A team from Clevedon was called at 09:55 this morning because a cat I wasn’t stuck in a treebut in a drain pipe.”

“John (yes, John) the cat had gotten (yes, John is a female, it’s a long story) stuck in a drain pipe of the garage from inside the garage,” they explained.

John, still under the effects of anesthesia, after being released, is safe and sound.

Meanwhile, Vets4Pets Clevedon, who treated John, said: “Saturday took an unexpected turn when beautiful little John arrived at the surgery along with the firefighters after get caught in a pipe.”

“We placed an intravenous catheter in her leg and she received oxygen therapy and sedation while the firefighters removed the tube. Then they hugged her and they pampered her before returning her home to her relieved owner,” they concluded.
