Andorra la VellaThe municipality of Sant Julià de Lòria and the management of Naturland intend to rethink the expansion of the landfill. The two parties involved want to renaturalize and remodel the landfill space so that it is integrated with the landscape. This is what the consul of the parish, Cerni Cairat, explained this Tuesday, during the first town meeting called by the corporation. “We think that far from having a negative impact on the Rabassa area, it can help to remodel the environment and renaturalize it,” explained Cairat.
The proposal came from the leaders of Naturland and from the common people they see it with good eyes. “Instead of growing inside the forest and destroying four more hectares of forest mass, what allows is to integrate the lands within the field of the 1,600 level in a way that allows to reconfigure all the land there,” he said the consul The space will be remodeled so that it returns to a space similar to what was there before. The municipality has also announced that it intends to carry out investments at the 1,600 level next summer.
During the meeting, the common has detailed some projects that are pending for 2025. Among some of these, the work to widen the Rabassa road stands out because there are some “very dangerous curves”, argued Cairat. 200,000 euros will also be invested to air-condition the LAUesport gym or a portion of 50,000 euros will be allocated to the Valira promenade because with the “rises of the rivers it has deteriorated”, said Cairat.
With the arrival of the new year, the second phase of reform of the Lauredià Cultural and Congress Center will open, which will involve the lobby, the bar, the library and the seminars. All this will involve an injection of 3.2 million euros. Cairat reported that the reform work is slow because “cost control” is being carried out. On the other hand, the minor consul, Sofia Cortesao, has articulated that the last phase of remodeling will be the facade of the equipment. In addition to this, Cortesao has announced that there will be a name change because it will be called the Lauredià Cultural Center. “It’s the name it had thirty years ago, we want to return to the origin to pay tribute to the people who took it forward”, argued Cortesao.
The corporation intends to activate a commercial reactivation plan in the next eight months with a contribution of 40,000 euros for this project. These would go to carry out commercial campaigns and to highlight the positioning and the differentiating factor of Sant Julià de Lòria compared to the other parishes.
It is also planned that part of the endowment will be used to develop the digital transformation process of the establishments and to support the entrepreneurs of the parish. In fact, Cortesao has announced that the initiative has already been launched because there have already been working tables between traders and entrepreneurs.
The consul has defended the policies that have been taken in housing so far. In this sense, the politician has affirmed that the fifty flats allocated by the parish’s godfathers will contribute to easing the situation a little because it will make these people go to live in the new homes of the Laurus Foundation and “this will free up flats that we can put on the market”.
However, Cairat has reminded that to solve the problem of housing, the involvement of everyone is necessary and that it will not be solved “in the short term”. These apartments are equipped so that residents can maintain their autonomy. The administration has specified that the project has had a cost of 16 million euros, but that almost 60% of the capital has been provided by the private sector.
During the presentation, the corporation announced that it will start a participatory process from January to redesign Plaça Canonge. The aim is to reorganize the space, make it more accessible and friendly, from this place to Plaça de la Germandat. The municipality wants there to be a flurry of ideas among citizens for what the center of the town should look like. The corporation has defended that this reorganization can favor economic development in the center.
Cairat has ruled out that the parish can implement the bus on demand as it is done in other parishes. “We have the quarters very far away and this would represent a significant expense that it is impossible for the municipality to assume”, answered the communal manager in one of the questions asked by the attendees.
Finally, the consuls have reported that work tables have been started to regulate the paths in the mountains. The administration wants to create specific areas for motor sports practitioners with the intention that there are compatible uses between people who do hiking and those who practice trials. On the other hand, the government team has also commented that they have met with private owners to be able to establish car parks in the center of Sant Julià given the difficulty of finding parking. For now, however, there have only been talks.
