Andorra la VellaGovernment paid 107 million in 2023 in salaries of civil servants. It was an increase of 11% compared to 2022, according to the statistics department. There are 2,711 government officials. This includes 982 linked to the General Body (those who work in Government and ministries); 984 in Education, 15 in Banders, 75 in Customs, 59 Penitentiaries, 258 Police, 120 Firefighters, 131 Justice, 36 Diplomats and 11 in Others. The data for the closing of 2023 are the last definitive ones, as they are set with the civil servants on the payroll at 31 December.
Statistics data include the average salary for each group. The group with the highest average salary (prorated in 12 payments because they receive 13) are those who are grouped in ‘Others’ which groups members of the Government, advisers and other cases that are not included in any body. The average is 5,110 euros per month. Diplomats (36 people) are in second place, with 4,486.
As for the Special Forces, the police (258) are the ones who earn the most with an average of 4,069 euros per month. Firefighters (120) closely follow them with 4,012. Penitentiaries (59) are in 3,762 and customs (75) with 3,704. The Banders (15) are at 3,488. The other three groups are below three thousand euros on average. Specifically, the employees of Justice (131) are at 2,912, Education (984) with 2,955 and those of the General Body (982) at 2,858.
Compared to the average salary in Andorra, they are all well above, as it is 2,481. The average salary of government officials is 2,988. This means that government employees earn on average around 1,500 euros more per month than Andorran employees.
