The president of Heraldo, Yarza Pigeonreceived this morning the Impulsa Women’s Leadership Award 2024, organized by CEOE Aragón, Caixabank and Directives of Aragón. Next to her, Jessika Valero, technical director of Bioclonalhas been awarded the same distinction in the Impulsa Joven category.
In the case of the Impulsa Liderazgo award to Paloma de Yarza López-Madrazo, andThe jury has valued his career. He has presided over Heraldo since 2021 after holding different responsibilities in its structure since 1997. “Fifth generation of editors of this leading family business in communication, De Yarza is also has contributed decisively to the expansion of the Henneo Group, of which this newspaper is the seed and whose board of directors she is a part of,” indicated the jury. Paloma de Yarza has been vice president of the European Publishers Association and is currently a member of the Aragon Family Business Association, among other positions.
In her speech, Paloma de Yarza wanted thank his family for the award“to the magnificent Heraldo team led by its director, Mikel Iturbe”, and to all the journalists, whom he has also pointed out as references. “In a profession without schedules, difficult to reconcile with family life, with still sexist behavior, female journalists fight every day to exercise their profession with courage and rigor“he stressed.
He has stressed that Heraldsince 1940 -when he appointed the first woman as president-, believe in female leadership “out of conviction and justice” and that her commitment to the empowerment of women “has nothing to do with social movements and fashions.” Along these lines, he recalled the appointment of Encarna Samitier as the first director of a national general information media u other management positions in the Henneo group held by women.
He has also referred to the future of the sectorthreatened by hoaxes, pseudomedia and attempts at control by those in power, and has defended that “journalism is more necessary than ever.” He explained the successful process of digital transformation in which Heraldo is immersed, thanks to the efforts of the editorial team, and recalled that next year, on the occasion of the newspaper’s 130th anniversary, the style book will be renewed thanks to work being carried out with the RAE and the Urgent Spanish Foundation. The bet on the newspaper’s audiovisual information and the application of Artificial Intelligence were other issues he referred to in his speech.

For its part, Jessika Valero González has received the Impulsa Young Award for his leadership in innovative projects in the discovery of monoclonal antibodies and advanced therapeutic delivery systems. With a PhD in molecular biology and with more than a decade of experience in biotechnology, she has been pioneer in the development of Bioclonal’s own platformwhich overcomes immunization barriers for complex targets. Previously, he worked in business development at Certest Biotec and currently provides consulting and advice for other companies in the sector. Furthermore, it is active mentor in Steam initiatives and member of the Aragon Directives, promoting technological innovation in the Community.
The Impulsa Women’s Leadership Awards are part of the actions organized annually jointly by CEOE Aragón and CaixaBank, with the collaboration of Aragón Directors, aimed at promoting the growing female leadership in the Aragonese business fabric.
