A MAN is due to appear in court charged in connection with an alleged drug and money laundering operation.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested as part of a major search operation in Cobh, Co Cork on February 10.
He has since been released from the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996,
He is expected to appear before a sitting of Mallow District Court tomorrow morning, February 13, at 10:30am.
He was arrested following searches of properties in Cobh on Saturday afternoon last.
As part of ongoing investigations in County Cork, Gardai from the Midleton District Drug Unit, assisted by local Garda Units from Cobh, Midleton and Fermoy, conducted the operation.
Gardai searched a residential property and seized €62,800 and a high-powered car.
A second residence was searched in Cobh, and cops seized €3,500 worth of suspected cocaine, 180 rounds of ammunition, an ammunition press, incapacitant OC spray, and drug-related paraphernalia.
All items seized are undergoing forensic analysis and examination.
Investigations are ongoing.

Separately, a major probe is underway after 1,100 prescription pills were allegedly recovered from a prison officer’s home.
The Irish Sun can reveal the pills were discovered after a Garda raid and that a man in his 30s has been arrested.
A quantity of cash was also seized during the search.
The officer – based at a Dublin prison – was questioned by Gardai
The raid was undertaken by Gardai after they received information a prison officer was storing the drugs.
One theory is that he was holding the drugs for a north Dublin crime gang.
