Kai Sotto continues stellar play for struggling Koshigaya

MANILA, Philippines—Another solid performance by Kai Sotto went down the drain in the B.League on Sunday.

Sotto’s latest double-double outing wasn’t enough give the Koshigaya Alphas the victory as they took a 96-80 beating at home at the hands of the Kyoto Hannaryz.

Kyoto swept a two-game set against Koshigaya, (6-18) which it also beat, 92-84, on Saturday, despite an 18-point, 10-rebound effort by the rising Filipino center.

Sotto was coming off a 20-point night on Saturday.

Dwight Ramos and Levanga Hokkaido (9-15) also failed to bounce back against the San-En Neophoenix, which came away with an 84-79 win at Toyohashi City Gymnasium.

Ramos struggled to find his touch, scoring just two points in 13 minutes. The Gilas Pilipinas mainstay had 21 points in a 102-78 blowout loss to San-En on Saturday.

Ray Parks Jr.’s efforts also went for naught as the Osaka Evessa succumbed to the Chiba Jets, 89-81, at Ookini Arena Maishima.

Parks Jr. finished with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists as Osaka slid to 13-11.

Much like his fellow Filipino imports, Matthew Wright also tasted defeat as his Kawasaki Brave Thunders (4-20) fell to the Mikawa Seahorses, 97-65, at Kariyashi Taiikukan.

Wright tallied nine points and four rebounds in 28 minutes.

AJ Edu and Roosevelt Adams, meanwhile, found themselves on the winning side of things.

Edu’s Nagasaki Velca beat the Ibaraki Robots, 97-85, at Adastria Mito Arena while Adams’ Yamagata Wyverns slipped past the Fukui Blowinds, 83-81. At Yamagata Prefectural Sports Park.

Edu registered four points and two rebounds to help Velca rise to 12-12.
