Andorra la VellaThe Andorran Police and the Mossos d’Esquadra of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Alt Pirineu and Aran Police Region they have dismantled an important drug sales point and have arrested a suspected trafficker in one joint operation which took place between Thursday and Friday at the border of the Runer River and Os de Civís.
The investigation began following the arrest, on Wednesday in Sant Julià de Lòria, of a motorcyclist who was in possession of 10 grams of cocaine and who came from the Os de Civís road, the town where he allegedly bought the drug. Immediately, police cooperation channels were activated with agents of the Mossos d’Esquadra of the DIC Pirineu, who were already conducting an investigation into a suspected trafficker and a point of sale of narcotics in the Catalan town.
According to the information available to the Mossos d’Esquadra investigators, the suspect had traveled to Lleida to get more cocaine and was preparing to return to Os de Civís via Andorra. At that time, a joint operation was organized that allowed the police of the Group of Crimes against Public Health of the Police andorrana arrested the alleged trafficker on Thursday afternoon thanks to a large device deployed on the border of the Runer River.
During the search, and with the collaboration of Group of Dog Guidesat theman, 46 years old, 44 grams of cocaine were found inside his body, as well as several elements that he would have used to hide the drug and try to avoid it being detected. He also had more than 2,300 euros in cash, mostly in 50 bills.
Given that the sale of drugs involved the cooperation of the two territories, the judicial authority started the process to activate one international rogatory commission and this Friday morning agents from the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Andorran Police have searched the home of the detainee, in the Catalan population. During the inspection, around 5,000 euros in cash were found, also mostly in 50-denomination notes; a precision scale; elements that are usually used in drug trafficking; as well as bags cut to prepare doses with the same characteristics as those found on the motorist arrested on Wednesday with 10 grams of cocaine.
The joint investigation remains open and further arrests are not being ruled out.
