A few weeks ago, my Sports colleagues They published a news story about one of those football characters who come out from time to time and who owe their fame more to the eccentricities outside the fields of the game than to football itself. I can’t resist bringing him to the blog: it’s Fábio PaÃm.
Who was it?: A Portuguese winger from the late 2000s to the end of the last decade.
Why is he remembered?: Because in his day he was one of the jewels of the Sporting Clube de Portugal youth team, who was compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, although his career never took off.
What happened to him?: He retired in 2018 at Leixoes in his native country. After hanging up his boots and going to prison for drug problems, he has just started a new career as a porn actor.
Did you know that…?: It was Cristiano Ronaldo himself who, in 2003, highlighted PaÃm’s conditions: “If you think I’m good, wait until you see Fábio PaÃm,” CR7 said when he arrived at Manchester United.
-He himself says that he was better than the Madeira star, although he compared himself more to Ronaldinho because of his style.
– “If I had wanted to I would have played for Barça or Real Madrid,” he said.
– He was at Chelsea under Brazilian Scolari, but did not make his debut with the first team.
– Union 05 of Luxembourg fired him for his “unprofessional” attitude.
– In 2019 he was arrested in his country for possession of cocaine and was in prison.
– He is of Angolan origin.
– He played up to 47 games with the youth teams of the Portuguese national team (one of them with the under-21 team), but did not make his debut with the first team.
– He was also arrested for rape.
– He is 1.80 meters tall.
Biography, honors, statistics: Fábio Miguel Malheiro PaÃm was born on February 15, 1988 in Estoril, Portugal. Trained in the Sporting Clube youth academy, he had a string of loan spells with teams such as Olivais Moscavide, Trofense, Paços Ferreira, Chelsea, Rio Ave and Real Massamá. In 2010 he signed for Torreense and then chained contracts in clubs such as 1º Agosto, Angolan Benfica Luanda, Futebol Benfica (not to be confused with the famous club), Qatari Al Kharaitiyat, Oliveirense, Maltese Mosta, Nevėžislituano, the Luxembourgish Union 05, the Sintra Football, the ParaÃba do Sul and finally, the Leixões B.
See you tomorrow.
