Andorra la VellaThe Women’s Trust of Our Lady of Meritxell has received a donation of solidarity material from the Pyrénées Group that will help cover the needs of the country’s most vulnerable families, not only on special holidays such as Christmas, but also on special days such as birthdays of children “People think that in Andorra there is not that much need and there is,” declares the president of the Patronat de Dames, Cristina Cerqueda. An attention that Pyrénées has worked on for more than a year and that, in recent months, they have been able to materialize with the association. “It hasn’t been easy at all, because we have some values that we wanted to be represented and we found them with the Ladies of Meritxell”, specifies the director of Grans Magatzems Pyrénées, Josep Maria Charques.
For a child, a birthday is a very important day, according to Cerqueda. In this regard, the president of the Women’s Board of Trustees emphasizes that for the Christmas holidays, “everyone donates when they are asked, but it is very difficult to reach people on March 8”. However, with the donation, it will be possible to respond quickly to the needs of these vulnerable families that “on specific days, we can respond to the demands”. The intention is to start the action in nursery schools, where they will separate ages and concepts as a classification method to have a better organization. In addition, the most needy people will be detected in schools or associations, where the Board of Trustees has trusted people who help to specify the urgency.
“It’s an honor that Grup Pyrénées collaborates with us, that they pay attention to the work we do and that they want to collaborate with Andorra”, Cerqueda points out. For his part, Charques reveals that the aim is to continue with the donation, in which the company’s suppliers also collaborate, during the coming years thanks to the agreement signed between both parties.
