Andorra la VellaThe Council of Ministers has approved the participation of the Government as founding patron of the Laurus Private Foundation, of which it will assume the vice-presidency. This is an essential step to develop the construction project of an affordable rental apartment building with services for the elderly in Sant Julià de Lòria. The Government, as established in the signing of the memorandum of understanding in September between the head of the Executive, Xavier Espot, and the Consul Major of Sant Julià de Lòria, Cerni Cairat, will contribute 5 million to a project to which the Lauredian Municipality will contribute 3 million.
Therefore, the Laurus Private Foundation will be established before a notary and, with this effect, the Minister of the Presidency, Economy, Work and Housing, Conxita Marsol, has been authorized to appear on behalf of the Government, as foundation patron.
The project of apartments with services for the elderly in Sant Julià de Lòria, which is part of the National Socio-Health Plan for the Elderly to improve the quality of life of the country’s elderly, envisages the construction of three blocks of ‘homes located at the entrance of the village. It will have 54 floors of 50 m2 each and a day center.
The head of government and the consul major of Sant Julià de Lòria agreed to emphasize, in the signing of the memorandum of understanding, that the entry of the Executive into the Foundation’s board of trustees means the definitive impetus for the materialization of the project and a step forward to guarantee access to decent housing for the elderly.
The Laurus Private Foundation is also made up of the heirs of Climent Riera and Cusí, the heirs of Montserrat Marfany, the executors of María Duró, the Reig Foundation, the Bomosa Foundation and the Red Cross.
