Andorra la VellaLive at a slower pace and enjoy the art of creating and composing songs. This is the current spirit of the members of the Girona group Sopa de Cabra, as Gerard Quintana explained this Friday. A spirit that both he and Josep Thió have been able to transmit perfectly to the spectators who attended the second presentation concert of their new album ‘Ànima’ this Friday night, which was held at the Auditori Nacional d’Andorra , in Ordino.
The recital, as expected, began with the classic motto “Good night, malparits!”, to continue with a first part dedicated to the new themes of the work and culminate with great classics such as ‘Far del sud’ or ‘L’ Empordà ’, which got everyone out of their seats. “
We resist the rush and the vertigo of this 21st century. That’s why, on this album, we savor the songs spoonful by spoonful,” commented Quintana moments before the concert, while recalling that this work has had numerous collaborations, such as those of Beth, Anaïs Vila, Clara Peya or Yolanda Sey. “Yesterday it was a surprise and a discovery for us to perform here. The warmth, the magic and what was created I think was special,” Quintana emphasized, referring to the previous day’s concert. “I think this auditorium has a very human size. You see everyone’s faces, their reactions, and that also contributes to it,” added the group’s singer.
Sopa de Cabra formed in 1979 under the name Copacabana and remained active between 1986 and 2001. Now, after almost five years without releasing new material, they are back to present a new album. “We’re finding that people respond fantastically to these songs that are almost 35 years old or even more than 40 years old. This, in a way, makes the music stop time,” remarked Quintana, celebrating the intergenerational character of his public “Recently we were asked: are there a lot of boomers coming? I know that when we start playing, everyone looks in their early twenties. I don’t know how old they are, but that’s the energy. And that’s priceless” reflected the leader of Goat Soup.
