Fulham boss Silva desperate for ‘special player’ to agree new contract… but will have to wait until end of season

MARCO SILVA has vowed to do his “maximum” to keep Willian at Fulham.

The Brazilian winger, who is out of contract in the summer, revealed last week he would be open to joining other clubs in Europe or Saudi Arabia.

Silva has held talks with Willian over a new deal and is desperate to keep the former Chelsea and Arsenal man.

The Cottagers boss also revealed the 35-year-old, who delayed his decision to re-sign last summer, snubbed an offer from the Middle East a year ago.

Ahead of tomorrow’s visit by Liverpool Silva said: “Last season he had an offer from either Saudi or Dubai, we know that.

“It is up to him to decide what is best for his future and his family.

“From my side I am going to do my maximum to keep him with us.

“I have many conversations with Willian about everything, not just his contract.

“He is a special player, I have a strong relationship with him, a special one.

“Everything is so clear between me and him. The player wants to wait until the end of the season.”

Willian joined Fulham in 2022 after spending a season back in his home country of Brazil with Corinthians.

And since his return to the Premier League he has excelled in west London scoring 10 goals and registering seven assists as an integral cog in the Marco Silva machine.
