Andorra la VellaThe area of Commerce, Competition and Consumption has extended a consumer alert in relation to a manufacturing defect in certain models of motorcycle tires of the Pirelli brand. The defective models have been sold in different establishments all over Europe and also in Andorra. Specifically, 53 tires in different specialized shops in the country.
Manufacturer brand Pirelli is already in the process of evaluating possible performance issues with the Metzeler Tourance Next, Metzeler Tourance Next II and Pirelli Scorpion Trail II models. The affected models are as follows: 28032 150/70R18M/CTL 70V Trai2R Scorpion Trail II; 28033 150/70R18M/CTL 70V TNextR Tourance Next; 39614 150/70R18M/CTL 70V TNxt2R Tourance Next II; and 42410 150/70ZR18M/CTL 70W TNxt2R Tourance Next.
The manufacturer, through its distributors, has notified Andorran establishments of the notice to withdraw the affected tire models from sale. The assessed risk is medium and, under certain conditions, the breakdown of the armor and the partial detachment of the bearing layer and the loss of pressure may expose the motorcycle to the risk of loss of control. Finally, Pirelli has confirmed that it will offer buyers the replacement of the affected tires with new and different models that do not have defects.
