Andorra la VellaThe Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Andorran Women’s Institute (IAD) have signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of guaranteeing the accessibility, preservation and promotion of the Andorran bibliographic fund dedicated to women , a key initiative to promote study and research around its reality. The head of Culture, Mònica Bonell, and the president of the IAD, Montserrat Ronchera, took part in the signing ceremony. The National Library, located at the headquarters of the Ministry, will be the depository of the fund, thus ensuring its management and conservation in an institutional framework of reference.
Under the name of the Women’s Documentation Center, a wide range of specialized bibliographic and documentary information will be offered on topics ranging from science and sociology to history, feminist theory and legislation, among others. with a mainly national focus.
This link between the Andorrà de les Dones Institute and the National Library responds to the desire to optimize the use of available spaces and resources, facilitating access to the documentary collection by the general public, with special attention to students , professionals and organizations interested in gender issues.
The National Library, as a new consultation space for the documentary collection, undertakes to guarantee its availability and dissemination, while the IAD will assume the expenses arising from the maintenance of the material. This collaboration will be temporary, until the IAD has its own space, optimal for managing this collection.
The agreement also provides for exploring collaborations with networks of libraries and centers specialized in gender studies on an international scale to promote the exchange of experiences and resources, as well as for the realization of joint activities.
With this initiative, the IAD and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports reaffirm their commitment to promote knowledge, research and the visibility of women in Andorran society, providing wider and more effective access to an essential documentary heritage for the study of gender equality.
