One of the most special Christmas shows for children returns to Murcia this Friday after 13 years: Cortyland. The opening ceremony, which will be presented by Antonio Hidalgo, will take place at 7:00 p.m., on the stage installed on Avenida de la Libertad, according to municipal sources in a statement.
The Christmas show has been presented this Thursday by the mayor, José Ballesta, and the director of El Corte Inglés, Hugo Lorente. They have been accompanied by the vice mayor and councilor of Development and Heritage Rebeca Pérez; and the councilors of Urban Development and Smart City, José Guillén, and of Culture and Identity, Diego Avilés.
Murcia becomes the only Spanish city along with Madrid that hosts this initiative, which will be one of the great attractions from the city center under the title The Cortycatswhose story takes place in a city of cats where every Christmas they decorate the large tree, 16 meters high.
More than 30 story characters with more than 40 motorized movements, made of porexpan and with a metal structure, they will sing starting this Friday on Liberty Avenuein the city’s El Corte Inglés. This show is the 46th edition of Cortylandia in the El Corte Inglés shopping centers, which began in 1979 and was only interrupted in 2020 due to the pandemic. Since its origin, scenarios have been designed inspired by the tastes of the little ones and new facilities that have rotated through several of the centers that El Corte Inglés has throughout Spain.

A Christmas market
This Friday, at 7:00 p.m., the opening will also take place, for the first time in Murcia, of the christmas market installed on Avenida de la Libertad, which will become one of the main points of the city during these dates to make plans with children, as a couple, with family or with friends. Specifically, it will be made up of 12 booths with Christmas items and products such as decorations, gifts, typical sweets, and food trucks.
