CARLOW County Fire and Rescue Service and Carlow Older Persons Forum are rolling out a lifesaving initiative across the county.
A working smoke alarm can alert you to smoke or a fire in your home and provide you with those precious minutes necessary to safely escape. Unfortunately, if there is a fire in your home, the smell of smoke will not wake you from sleep; it will cause you to fall into a deeper sleep instead.
If you are aged 55 or over, you may be entitled to have your old smoke alarm replaced by a new one, which would be fitted by the fire service, free of charge.
Joe Butler, chairperson of Carlow Older Persons Forum in collaboration with senior assistant chief fire officer Ray Regan, are rolling out a lifesaving initiative for Carlow and encourage people to make that call and avail of this scheme.
Carlow County Development Partnership provides ongoing support to the work of Carlow Older Persons Forum. For more information, please contact Mr Butler on 085 8505549 or email [email protected].
