Andorra la VellaCáritas Andorrana has already carried out two solidarity actions to help those affected by DANA in the Valencian Community and soon intends to carry out a third. The organization wants to make a financial contribution to rebuild a building damaged by the natural disaster, such as a “school or a health center”, explained the president of Càritas Andorrana, Anna Villas. It is a more long-term project because the charitable entity of the Principality is in contact with Cáritas Valencia and they are waiting to be told if they “must be helped” in doing some reconstruction, mentioned the president Within the country, the aid agency also continues to help Andorrans, since this Friday they organized a charity dinner with around 160 attendees, for which the money collected will go towards social actions in Andorra.
Not long ago a trailer and three vans loaded with basic necessities went out to help the Valencians. Three bank accounts were also opened so that the citizens of the Coprincipate could make financial donations, deposits that money can still be sent to, since the entity still “has them open and until they tell us from Valencia that they need something concretely we leave it open so that people can collaborate when they can”, said Villas. The third initiative will be to help them rebuild some building and although it has not been decided what type of infrastructure it will be until they are notified from Valencia, Càritas Andorrana is clear that it must be a social building and for public use.
Cáritas Andorrana also has its sights set on national issues. This Friday, the organization held a charity dinner with the aim of raising money for social projects. “Between 160 and 165, on the list there were some last-minute withdrawals, but there is also table zero, that is, people who collaborated and could not come,” explained the president. The price of the dinner was 75 euros, 35 of which will go to charity projects. During the meal, a raffle will also be held, for which a painting by the artist Francesc Galobardes will be drawn. At the moment, the first counts have not yet been made and, therefore, there is no data on what has been achieved. Last year, 6,000 euros were obtained.
Villas also explained that last year Cáritas Andorrana served 1,568 users and the feeling is that the figures will be similar in 2024. “The feeling is that it will remain, I have asked the social workers and they believe that it will remain, there won’t be much of a difference,” declared the head of the entity.
