Ayuso’s comment upon seeing a sign upon arrival in South Korea: “What a welcome”

The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayusois in full trip to south korea to attract projects and investment from the South Korean audiovisual industry and promote the region as a setting for filming series and movie productions. This is what Ayuso herself has made known on social networks, where she has also shared the curious image of a sign upon her arrival, where she has drawn irony.

The poster in question shows several young South Korean women under the following slogan, in English: “Show your love with Pepero” (Show your love with Pepero). The girls in the image also appear with different colored boxes that show a very typical snack in South Korea.

“Thank you very much! What a welcome,” wrote the Madrid president when referring to the term “pepero”with which people who sympathize or are active in the Popular Party are informally known.

In reality, the pepero is a cookie stick dipped in chocolate with decades of history in South Korea, since the Lotte Wellfood company has been manufacturing them in the Asian country since 1983.

The poster that Ayuso shows in his message published on the social network Pepero Day (Pepero Day), which is celebrated every year on November 11 and consists of sharing this sweet among friends and family.

As explained from the Bridge office with Korea of the University of Malaga, “it is a day in which young people have fun and show appreciation for those around them sharing this snack.”

In addition to this curious tradition, November 11 also commemorates the Garaetteok DayKorean rice cake day, where people also treat themselves to long portions of this cake.
