Andorra la VellaThe councilors of Democrats in the Commune of Andorra la Vella, David Astrié, Miquel Canturri and Rosa Maria Sabaté, they voted for this one Thursday in the Common Council in favor of the ratification of agreement between the Municipality of Andorra la Vella and the Government of Andorra for the transfer of use of the plot of land on Carrer del Cedre, which will allow the Executive to build a block of 30 apartments for affordable rent.
Astrié has celebrated the launch of a project initiated under his mandatebut he regretted it 10 months delaya fact that ends up harming the current housing needs of the citizens of the parish.
He has also criticized the “incoherence of the words” of Consul Sergi Gonzálezwho only a year earlier and being in the opposition, criticized the corporation for opting for a public-private concession when, in his opinion, the Commune had the financial capacity to carry it forward without private support. “Now that he holds the position of consul, things are seen differently and he has asked the Government for help to carry out the same project“, he sentenced.
Also in the housing key, DA councilors have voted in favor of the new one regulation of economic benefits in terms of housing. At this point, Astrié has recognized the initiative’s intention to help, despite the “doubts” that generates, since the communal services “coincide with the responsibilities of the Ministry of Social Affairs” and, at the same time, generate “some discrimination” with the rest of the citizens who are not from the parish.
For this reason, he regretted that the project has not previously worked with the ministryand has asked to establish “a framework of collaboration” between the two administrations for “avoid unnecessary redundancies and maximize impact”. Also, and “at the risk of creating a financially insecure program in the long term” the councilor has also asked for a financing plan or a projection of the allocation of items to ensure the sustainability of the program.

In other news, Democratic councilors abstained on the agenda item on a multi-year expense to hire a company to deploy the revision of the Urbanism Plan of the parish. Despite sharing that this task is “important enough to approach it with caution, foresight and responsibility“, the mechanism used “is fruit of a decision of only the majority, it has come to us all done and we would like to have had more information about the mechanism“, as well as having participated in the process, explained Astrié, regretting that the procedure has been “not transparent“.
Finally, and with regard to the point about the awarding of the national competition for the digitization works and complete sectorization of the potable water network Astrié, Canturri and Sabaté have voted in favour, because gives continuity to a process started in the previous mandate. “We are proud of a project designed not only to improve the quality of the drinking water service, but to make our network an example to follow for the rest of the corporations”, said Astrié, in the sense that it allows to obtain one greater precision and speed regarding the detection of leaks, the control of pressures and consumptionthrough the digitization and monitoring.
