Agents of the Civil Guard They collected in the early hours of this Sunday the lifeless body of a man on Chorrillo beach, Ceuta. It is about the second corpse that appears on the coast of the autonomous city so far this week, both in areas close to the border of the Tarajal.
From the Ceuta Command They rule out that it is less and they suspect that it may be a person of North African origin, although they are awaiting the results of the autopsy.
The man carried wetsuit and finsclothing with which they usually try to swim across to Ceuta from Morocco. The Civil Guard believes that he could be between 30 and 34 years old.
The discovery occurred early this Sunday morning, around 6:00 a.m., on Chorrillo beach, towards where they usually go migrants who jump into the sea from the Moroccan town of Castillejos.
Until the two discoveries in December, when strong tides and fog are leading to an increase in attempts to enter Ceuta, the last lifeless body floating in the sea appeared on September 9days after another body was recovered in the same month. In August, there were five bodies collected by the Civil Guard.
More than a hundred people have entered Ceuta by land – skirting the breakwater and through the fence – since last November. Of this hundred, 42 of them have done so in the first 15 days of Decemberaccording to the latest data updated by the Ministry of the Interior.
In total, 2,386 people have entered irregularly in the autonomous city since the beginning of the year. Compared to the data from 2023, when 1,044 migrants had entered until December 15, there has been an increase of 1,342 people.
