EVAN FERGUSON is following in the footsteps of Robbie Keane – and is even out-performing the Ireland legend at this early stage of his career.
The Brighton hot-shot is fine form this season – having already bagged FOUR goals in five games – with his club sitting in fifth spot on 12 points.
Analysis by William Hill compared the rising star with Republic of Ireland legend Robbie Keane – and the stats are surprising.
After Keane’s first 25 top-flight games – he’d scored 11 goals with no assists in 2,165 minutes of action – whereas Ferguson has banged in 10 goals alongside two assists in only 1,186 minutes on the park!
The pair have identical international records after six matches for the Boys in Green.
William Hill wrote: “We’ve taken a look at how the start to Evan Ferguson‘s #PremierLeague and international career looks alongside Ireland’s all-time top scorer Robbie Keane… and it’s remarkable how close the two are in terms of their output.

“Keane obviously spent time tearing it up for Wolves before joining Coventry in the #EPL but his and Ferguson’s first 25 games were very productive. Keane played a lot more minutes however so it’ll be interesting to see how Evan Ferguson gets on as he gets more game time.
“Remarkably there was just a month between the players in age when they reached six caps for the Republic- and both scored two goals in their first six appearances!”
Keane is Ireland’s record goal-scorer – having bagged 68 goals over his 18-year international career in green so Ferguson has a way to go yet before overtaking the Tallaght legend.
Ferguson missed the most recent Republic of Ireland matches – losses against France and Holland – but returned to action for his club off the bench in their win over Man United at Old Trafford at the weekend.
