Andorra la VellaA total of 240 people have received Andorran nationality during the third quarter of this 2024. Of the total number, as published this Monday by the Department of Statistics, 150 nationalities have been granted with full rights and 90 have been resolved with recognition of the right to acquire nationality on a provisional basis.
Of the people who were granted nationality with full rights, 88 acquired it by origin and 62 by acquisition. In cases of acquisition, applicants had to renounce their previous nationality. On the other hand, 90 requests were resolved with the recognition of the right to acquire nationality on a provisional basis pending the interested person, within the legally established period, certifying the renunciation of the nationality or nationalities of origin .
Following European regulations on migration and international protection statistics, the statistics on acquisitions of nationality by residents only consider processes that involve a change of nationality and that refer to resident persons. Thus, during the third quarter of 2024, of the 62 acquisitions of nationality, 77.4% are obtained by the residence option, 17.7% by marriage and the remaining 4.8% are obtained by other reasons
Also, 56.3% of the acquisitions by residence correspond to women and the remaining 43.7% to men, and are characterized by being mostly people who were born in Spain and who have renounced their Spanish nationality (56, 3%).
Regarding the acquisitions of nationality through marriage, in the third quarter of 2024 more men (72.7%) than women (27.3%) acquired Andorran nationality.
