Andorra la VellatheAPPEC magazine and digital editors celebrated this Wednesday evening a Barcelona the 24th Night of magazines and the press in Catalan, the event that every year brings together various personalities from the communication sector from all over the Catalan countries.
Active Culture of Andorra she was one of the awardees, receiving the Society prize for her work in the promotion and dissemination of the Catalan language and culture, in an adverse context and in which they need a determined and constant boost.
This year, the organization has conceived this edition as a recognition of the readers of publications in the Catalan language. With this intention, throughout the event, he conveyed that readers, as the final recipients of magazines and the press, are an essential part of this communication sector and, obviously, for the Catalan language and culture.
The association considers that readers make it possible for the Catalan Countries to have a wide, rich, plural and quality range of headlines in their own language. In addition, he points out that this vitality and diversity allow us to look with optimism at the future of publications in Catalan.
In this sense, the president of theAPPEC magazine and digital publishers, Brother Capdevilahas claimed magazines “as a refuge for good journalism” in the face of “a world saturated with immediate information, where social networks have also become a channel for disinformation and fake news”.
In this context, during his speech, he emphasized that magazines “become a space where journalism can go deeper, analyze and present content worked with care and professionalism”.
He also expressed the organization’s solidarity with the families of the victims and those affected by the DANA in the Valencian Country, with a special mention to the magazine Camacuc, which is based in Paiporta and which has been destroyed.
The event, held at Csign the Poblenou Alliancein Barcelona, ​​was attended by 300 people and with the participation of the president of the Parliament of Catalonia, Joseph Rulland of the councilor of Language Policy of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Francis Xavier Vila.
Fifteen awards and six recognitions
In addition to Active Culture theAPPEC magazine and digital publishers has distinguished the journalist Enrique Calpena (Communication prize) and the Bookstore Ona Pau Claris (Culture prize). La Nit de les Magazines i la Premsa en Català has also awarded the award for best publication to Descobrir, in the category of Magazines; in the Now, in Premsa Diária; in Som Rurals, in Non-Daily Press; and at elvallenc.cat, in Digital.
The award for best report went to Ateneus for ‘Tot un món de festivals’ by Xavier Amat i Puig, in the category of Magazines; in El 9 Nou for ‘Terra de Masies’ by Miquel Erra, in Press; and in lamira.cat for ‘The first Catalan podcasters?’ by Laura Saula Taña, in Digital.
At the same time, the Nit de les Revistes i la Premsa en Catalan has awarded the distinction for best editorial design in Serra d’Or, in the category of Magazines; in Region 7, in Press; and sapiens.cat, in Digital. In addition, by popular vote, Vèrtex has won the award for best cover, in the category of Magazines and La Veu de l’Anoia, in Press.
Finally, the Night of Magazines and the Catalan Press also commemorated the centenary of the Revista de Catalunya; the 50 years of Perspective, Els Marges and Foc Nou; and the 25 years of Caramella and Bonart.
