Andorra la VellaOn the night of Sunday 22 to Monday 23 December, a vehicle and a snow plow were involved in a traffic accident inHospitalet-près-l’Andorreon the access route to the Principality.
As reported by the French newspaper La Dépêche Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene. Of the four people affected by the incident, only the driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to the emergency room of the Valls de l’Arieja Interregional Hospital Center (CHIVA).
A complicated weather context
This accident occurs in a context of snow storm that has complicated which will last until Tuesday and significantly hinders traffic on the roads of the Pyrenees.
Heavy snowfall and accumulated ice increase the risk of road incidents in this area, especially in sections with unevenness and sharp curves such as those connecting Andorra to France.
Caution in driving
The French authorities have reiterated the need for extreme caution on the roads during the storm. It is recommended to avoid unnecessary travel and, if driving, to equip vehicles with winter tires or chains, as well as to adapt the speed to the road conditions.
