Andorra la VellaA trailer from Cáritas Andorra with 32 tons of essential materials (food, clothing, hygiene products and cleaning materials, among others) will set course for Valencia on Saturday to help the villages affected by the DANA. In the initiative, which has the collaboration of the company Transports Areny and Grup Sant Eloi, young people from the schools of the three educational systems have also participated, which has led them “to be protagonists, to transmit values to the new generations, who can live the value of solidarity and live with hope” explained the episcopal delegate of Cáritas Andorra, Monsignor Pepe Chisvert. “It is a reason for joy as a country to be able to respond to an emergency such as the floods. The Manual Digest reminds us: we must have good neighbors” he expressed, adding that “if a response was given when the war in Ukraine , we also wanted to have this answer” with the Valencians. In this sense, some of the students have gone to the Les Costes car park, where the trailer has been loaded, to help organize the donations to the vehicle.
The 32 pallets that will travel this weekend to the ‘Terreta’ contain 16 tons of food, cleaning utensils, water, personal hygiene and cleaning products; and another 16 that correspond to clothing and textile material that Càritas Andorrana provides directly from Rober. In total, 30 high school and high school students from the Sant Ermengol, Mare Janer and Sagrada Família schools in Escaldes-Engordany took part this Friday morning to organize the donations.
“It’s a very supportive activity. I feel very good doing it because I think we’d all like to be helped if we’re in a difficult moment,” said Núria Prados, a 4th year ESO student at the Maria Janer school. The one who has agreed with his vision has been the student of the Sagrada Família school Pelayo Rodríguez, who has added that the initiative means learning “to know the actions that Caritas does and how I can help people”.
For his part, the director of the Maria Janer school, Juan Ignacio Pérez, described the day of collaboration for the students as “favorable”. “As a Christian school, it is an initiative that fills us with joy. To see the students who have come voluntarily, missing fun activities like the spiritual cinema, is a source of pride,” he said. In fact, this action is complemented by the values spread from educational centers: collaboration, teamwork, cooperation and a good work environment.
This action, carried out in coordination with Cáritas Diocesana de Valencia and the Universitat Catòlica Sant Vicenç Mártir, has been possible thanks to the collaboration of Transports Areny, Grup Sant Eloi, GM Consultors, UdA Solidària, Inditex group, Farmàcia Enclar and Rètols la source In this sense, Reverend Pepe Chisvert has emphasized the fact that the trucks and travel are “at zero cost” thanks to donations from businessmen, and that they will receive news when the aid arrives in Valencian lands.
Continue contributing time later
Current events always have an impact. However, priest Pepe Chisvert has emphasized the need to continue helping months after the tragedy. “This is an emergency campaign, but in one, two or three months, we want to respond to rebuild a school or take a specific action according to the needs of Cáritas Valencia,” he confirmed.
More Cáritas Andorra actions
At the same time, a campaign to collect funds to help those affected by the floods is still open by both the parish Cáritas and Cáritas Andorrana in coordination with Cáritas Diocesana de Valencia. Therefore, several bank accounts have been opened in the different banks of the country to be able to make the donations. Contributions can also be made to the IBANS of the different parish Caritas and through BIZUM with the code 07399 indicating the concept ‘Aiguats’.
Cáritas Andorrana is in permanent contact with Cáritas Valencia to coordinate these actions and others that may be planned in the coming days. The intention is to offer all possible help so that the affected people have their basic needs covered.
