From Purujosa to the Valcongosto Ravine
Before entering the most hidden places in Moncayo, You have to know the charms of Purujosa. This town of barely 30 inhabitants is located in a spur over the Isuela River and the Barranco de la Virgen, and in addition to the cobblestone houses built on the rocks, you can wander through its small network until you reach the Church of the Savior, a Romanesque temple from the 12th century. Once you have visited all the corners, it is time to set off.
Right at outskirts of town This incredible hiking route begins: after taking a detour, the landscape itself gives a clue to what the adventurers will find ahead: the walls of the Valcongosto ravine They narrow little by little (in some sections they are only three meters wide), all of this crossing the channel of the stream of the same name that flows between them. After crossing that complicated section, we come face to face with the Moncayo molars.
Furthermore, during much of the tour you will encounter numerous caves, The environment located in this hidden part of Moncayo is a perfect place for caving. One of the largest is in full Barranco del Cuartún, another of the most important points of this entire incredible trail and although it is just as impressive as Valcongosto, it is not as complicated to cross.
Furthermore, hidden between its limestone walls is the Hermitage of the Virgin of Constantin, a perfect place to make a stop before facing the last part of the route. The final stretch is a beautiful ascension that leads back to the town from Purujosa after traveling several kilometers of the sublime Moncayo Natural Park.
