The National Police has rescued a minor under 17 years of age, of Moroccan nationality, who had traveled to the port of Algeciras (Cadiz) hidden in a refrigerated trailer transported by sea from Morocco. In a note, the Police explained that the emergency operation was carried out this Thursday, when the truck carrying him arrived at the port of Cadiz from Tangier Med (Morocco).
When the vehicle passed the police checkpoint at the port, at 8:00 a.m., the agents they heard knocks that came from the refrigerated compartment, so they ordered the driver to stop immediately. After opening the trailer, they confirmed the presence of a young man who had visible hypothermia symptoms due to the hours it had been hidden in the low temperature compartment.
The agents provided emergency care and medical assistance personnel treated the 17-year-old minor at the scene, managing to stabilize it before transferring him to a medical unit.
The case has been brought to the attention of the competent authorities in matters of child protection and social services, who will evaluate the condition of the young man and his needs for immediate support.
