HOTELS and spas always seem to have a secret hack for getting their towels fresh and fluffy.
One cleaning fanatic has shared the trick she uses to give her musty items a new lease of life.
“If your towels have been smelling a little musty, a little bit mildewy of late, here is a simple way to fix it,” the TikToker said.
She recommended purchasing a $7 Tide Clean Boost Fabric Rinse from Walmart.
“I’ve been using this fabric rinse from Tide a lot recently, all you do is just add a quarter cup to the fabric softener dispenser,” Caroline explained.
She then added a detergent pod to the frum of the machine and loaded her towels.
Caroline advised her audience to run their washing machine on a “normal cycle.”
“It breaks down residue built up during the rinse cycle and this is something that detergent on its own cannot do,” she explained.
After removing the towels, she placed them in her tumble dryer on another “normal setting.”
She added that she likes to add dryer balls to the drum to “add extra fluffiness.”
Caroline carried out a “scent test” and concluded that the towels smelled “super fresh and super clean.”
“It definitely has the fresh laundry smell but it’s not overpowering,” she said.
Caroline heaped on the praise for the fabric rinse, which she said is “now a staple in my laundry routine.”
“I use it mostly for towels and activewear and it just is a total game changer, no more yucky smells, no more yucky residue,” she said.
Her followers shared their thoughts on the laundry hack in the comments section.
“OK but my towel after a day stinks so yeah,” wrote one TikTok user.
“I switched from Downy to vinegar and honestly my towels don’t smell anymore,” said another viewer.
