Most people have at some point dreamed of a big lottery prize and everything that money can buy. But, What would be the first thing you would acquire?
Although someone may think that they would be cars, houses or trips, the reality is usually more prosaic. This is what is concluded from the testimony of Frances and Patrick Connolly, a Northern Irish couple who in 2019 won a prize for 128 million euros in the draw Euromillions.
Recalling the day they discovered they had become multimillionaires overnight, Frances Connolly tells Daily Mail how I was locked in a hotel without spare underwear as they prepared to make their victory public.
When asked what her first purchase was after winning the fabulous prize, Frances Connolly revealed: “Do you really want to know? A pair of panties.”
“We left our house with nothing, to be safe in case someone found out and came to the house. And they did, in a matter of minutes“explains the woman.
“When we arrived at a hotel in England on Friday night, before the press conference, I had to call our (daughter) Fiona and say: “Can you pop into Marks & Spencer?“. “She got a package of three pairs for 12 pounds (about 14 euros),” explains the millionaire.
Of course, once this emergency purchase was made, Frances Connolly explained that the first luxury purchase she made was buying for her father a gold pocket watch.
