Andorra contributes 164,227 dollars for UN peacekeeping

Andorra la VellaThe Government has approved, at the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Imma Tora financial contribution ofAndorra in different UN peacekeeping operations. This is the second contribution corresponding to the second semester of 2024. In total, the principality will provide approximately $164,227 for eleven different projects, which vary depending on the international conflicts, to finance the missions established by the United Nations. Specifically, it will contribute to twelve peacekeeping operations from the United Nations.

In this sense, the contribution goes to minusculethe integrated multidimensional mission of stabilizing theUN a evil to support political processes in that country and carry out a range of security-related tasks ($13,466); UNMIK, the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo, to promote security, stability and respect for human rights ($1,002); Minusca, the integrated multidimensional stabilization mission of the United Nations in the Central African Republic, due to the humanitarian, political, security and human rights crises ($29,544); Minurso, the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara ($1,623); Unifil, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, to monitor the cessation of hostilities, and help ensure humanitarian access to civilian populations and the voluntary and safe return of displaced persons ($13,467).

The greater part intended for the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The largest economic item, of $51,377, has been allocated to Monusco, the UN stabilization mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congofor the protection of civilians, humanitarian personnel and human rights defenders who are in imminent danger of suffering physical violence and to support the Government in initiatives to stabilize and consolidate peace. It will also benefit from the financial contribution Unisfa, the United Nations interim security force for Abyei, Sudan. The operation has the task of monitoring the border, which is a focus of violence between the north and the south, and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid ($7,627).

Finally, the latest operations are: Undof, the UN Disengagement Observer Force in the Israel-Syria conflict in the Golan to maintain the cease-fire between troops and monitor areas of separation and containment ($1,686 ); Unficyp, the peacekeeping force in Cyprus ($753); Unmiss, the United Nations mission in the Republic of South Sudan, to consolidate peace and security and help establish the conditions for development ($31,555); and UNSOS, the United Nations support office in Somalia ($12,127).

This new economic contribution from Andorra in different UN peacekeeping operations is added to that of the first half of the year, in which it contributed 32,977 euros for four different projects, in the Republic of Sudan of the South, Somalia, in the immediate ceasefire project between Syria and Israel and, finally, in Cyprus.
