The Secretary of State for Energy, Sara Aagesen, will be the new third vice president of the Government and minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, replacing Teresa Ribera, who on December 1 will become vice president and commissioner for the Just Transition and Competence of the new European Commission.
With this appointment, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has opted for the technical profile of Aagesen (Madrid, 1976), a chemical engineer specialized in the Environment who has been working closely with Ribera for two decades.
Although in recent months other names, more and less known, have been heard to lead the ecological transition, Aagesen was the favorite among the energy sector.
