A case that could reach European justice
After a sentence that has been considered by the defense as unfairthe young man’s lawyers, led by Alfonso Claverahave confirmed that they will take the case up to Strasbourg. The defense insists that the product the young man was carrying, with a concentration of Very low THC and legally sold in Andorran establishments, should not be considered as a toxic substance. The lawyer emphasized in statements to RTVA that during the trial the arguments were clear that showed that the product did not create addiction, so the law on drugs should not have been applied.
“We remain firm in our position and will ask for acquittal. If we don’t get the revocation here, we will go to Strasbourg to defend our client’s rights,” Clavera said.
A defense determined to reach Europe
The accused’s mother, Mercedes Chamorrohas also expressed to RTVA his desire to take the complaint to Strasbourg. According to her, the product her son brought was legal at that timesince in Andorra it was freely sold in several stores. Chamorro explained that they will continue to present new tests to prove that the young man had not committed any crime. “We will provide all the necessary evidence, since the product that came from the CBD was legally accessible in Andorra when the trial was held,” said the mother.
