Kevin Hadlocon, ex-FEU volleyball player, dies of liver cancer

MANILA, Philippines—Former Far Eastern University volleyball player Kevin Hadlocon has passed away after a bout with liver cancer.

FEU on Wednesday announced the passing of its former high school and men’s volleyball player, who excelled in both indoor and beach volleyball.

“FEU Athletics is saddened by the passing of former Men’s Volleyball player and High School volleyball coach Kevin Hadlocon,” the school wrote.

“We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Kevin’s family, friends, former teammates and coaches in this time of grief.”

Hadlocon was part of the FEU Beach Volleyball team that won silver medals in UAAP Season 81 and 82. He was also an integral part of the championship runs of the FEU Boys’ Indoor and Beach Volleyball teams in UAAP Season 85.

Last month, volleyball stars united for an auction to support the medical bills of Hadlocon.

Bella Belen of National University, Angel Canino of La Salle, Bryan Bagunas of Alas Pilipinas, Noel Kampton, and other PVL, Spikers’ Turf, and UAAP players auctioned their jerseys to support Hadlocon.

Jude Garcia, the Spikers’ Turf MVP and Hadlocon’s teammate, took to Instagram for a heartfelt message, consoling his teammate’s loved ones.

“Rest in peace Mego Kevin Bangcolongan Hadlocon. Maraming salamat sa magagandang samahan natin sa labas at sa loob ng court hinding hindi ka namin makakalimutan hanggang sa muli meg! My Condolences to the Family,” wrote Garcia.

Beach Volleyball Republic also sent its condolences to its former champion’s family.

“It’s with heavy hearts we share the passing of Kevin Hadlocon, a FEU student-athlete ​who was a BVR on Tour champion in 2017. Please send thoughts and prayers to ​the Hadlocon family,” the league said.
