Ryanair has signed an agreement with Trips The English Court through which the subsidiary of the distribution group will be able to sell the tickets of the low cost irish both through its website and in its physical stores, in addition to including them in its combined travel offer.
The CEO of Ryanair, Eddie Wilson, has pointed out that this is good news and “a great development”, because El Corte Inglés is “a very well-known brand” in Spainso it hopes that this association will allow the company’s flights to reach an audience that perhaps was not a regular customer before.
Nevertheless, Domestic flights will be available from December, according to the company’s forecast, due to the complexity of certain processes, such as that relating to discounted tickets for residents outside the peninsula.
The airline has been closing agreements with travel agencies since January, mostly ‘online’ (OTA), to prevent customers from suffering extra costs and ensure they receive the contact and payment details correct for each of the passengers.
The company established a verification system for all passengers who purchased their tickets through agenciessomething that will not need to be done if the purchasing process is carried out through one of the 14 companies with which you have reached an agreement.
Thus, Ryanair is sure that its customers will be able to receive information about their flights correctly, without intermediaries, and be able to receive refundsin the event that they were directly necessary, a procedure in which some OTAs charged a commission, as noted by Wilson, adding that this was palpable during the pandemic.
Wilson has also pointed out that eDreams, a company that he has accused on several occasions of carrying out this type of practices, has not contacted Ryanair to close any agreement, which surprises him, given that “they do not ask for money, just an email address” and that do not apply any surcharge. “So if they are not willing to accept those simple conditions, we have to find out why they don’t want to do it,” he said.
