Each Spaniard will spend an average of 73.84 euros in the lottery for the Christmas Draw

Each Spaniard will spend an average of 73.84 euros this year to buy tenths for the Extraordinary Draw of the Christmas lottery which will be held on December 22, compared to 71.67 euros from the previous year, according to the per capita allocation figure of the State Lottery and Betting Society (SELAE).

This amount is an estimate since the information will be definitive once the returns of unsold tickets during the campaign of this traditional rafflewhose advertising campaign was presented this Thursday, November 14 at a press conference at the Royal Mint in Madrid.

In this way, the nearly 74 euros of expenditure per person correspond to the sales estimates made by SELAE when sending the tickets to the lottery administrations, although later there is always a proportion of tickets that remain unsold.

By region, the autonomous community that is expected to spend the most per inhabitant this year is Castilla y León, with an average of 117.76 euros, followed by Asturias (115.43 euros), La Rioja (112.84 euros), Aragón (100.28 euros), Cantabria (99.4 euros), the Basque Country (84.33 euros), the Community of Madrid (83. 83 euros), Castilla-La Mancha (82.78 euros), Valencian Community (81.82 euros) and Galicia (79.79 euros).

Meanwhile, according to data collected by Europa Press, those who are going to spend the least this year are again the inhabitants of the autonomous cities of Melilla (16.75 euros) and Ceuta (18.55 euros)followed by those of the Balearic Islands (42.62 euros), the Canary Islands (46.19 euros), Catalonia (56.41 euros), Navarra (58.38 euros), Andalusia (61.01 euros), Extremadura (66.76 euros) and Murcia (71.41 euros).

Madrid, where more tenths will be sold

Regarding the different autonomous communities, Where the most Christmas Lottery is expected to be sold is in Madrid (575.08 million euros consigned)followed by Andalusia (522.7 million euros), Catalonia (446.1 million euros), Valencian Community (426.3 million euros), Castilla y León (280.2 million euros), Galicia (215. 1 million euros), the Basque Country (187.1 million euros), Castilla-La Mancha (172 million euros) and Aragon (134.3 million euros).

The president of State Lotteries and Betting (LAE), Jesus Huertahas indicated that the sales rate is “very similar to last year, maybe slightly above”with 15% of sales. This was stated during the press conference presentation of the traditional advertising campaign for the Extraordinary Christmas Draw, held at the Royal Mint in Madrid.

The Extraordinary Draw of the Christmas Lottery in 2024 will distribute a total of 2,702 million euros in prizes, which is 112 million more than last year. The Sweepstakes prize program highlights the Christmas ‘Gordo’ or first prize, 4,000,000 euros for the series; the second prize, 1,250,000 euros for the series; or the third, 500,000 euros for the series.
