Alberto Núñez Feijóo asks Pedro Sánchez to withdraw the candidacy to the European Commission of his current Minister of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera. One day after the European Parliament decided to postpone her examination until she appears as a minister in Congress about her management in DANA, the leader of the PP has taken the opportunity to point out the “serious doubts” that, in his opinion, the European Parliament has about his candidacy: “Members of the EC must be free from suspicion,” has pointed out in relation to the response she has given in the tragic floods as well as “her lack” of respect for resigning as an MEP after the failed results in the European elections last June.
With this, the popular assumes that in Europe there is concern about the management that the minister has done in the DANA that has claimed more than two hundred lives. “If she is not fit to be a minister, she is not fit to be a European vice president,” she told the media during the plenary session of Congress. “I have no doubt that he is not the right person, not only because of his policies in Spain, rejected by a large part of farmers and the energy sector, but because I have heard him say in Europe that he is not against nuclear energy and here (in Spain ) is closing nuclear power plants.”
For this reason, the popular has demanded that Sánchez withdraw his candidacy so as not to bring “Spain’s problems” to Europe. “The Government must reflect on the pressure to put on the European institutions, it has time to get it right.” At this point, Feijóo has guaranteed his support for another candidate who meets the profile” requested by Brussels.
