At least 16 people have died this Tuesday when A bus carrying guests to a wedding has fallen into a river in Diamera mountainous area located in the Gilgit Baltistan region, in the northeast of Pakistan.
The Superintendent of Diamer Police, Sher Khan, has indicated in statements to the Pakistani newspaper Dawn that “16 bodies have been recovered from the riverwhile the search for the remaining people continues”, since it is estimated that 22 people fell into the water.
As explained, there is an injured person, the girlfriend, who has been taken to the hospital to receive treatment. The vehicle came from Astore district and fell into the Indus River during the afternoon in the disputed region of Kashmir.
The president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, has conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and has ordered the need to “accelerate relief operations”as indicated by the governmental Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) through its profile on the social network X.
