Andorra la VellaThe Government has approved, at the proposal of the Minister of Territory and Urbanism, Raul Ferré, the awarding of the first phase of the construction work for affordable public housing at 60 Avinguda del Pessebre, Escaldes-Engordany. The works will be carried out by the construction company Pidasa Serveis for an amount of 1,600,521.63 euros and a deadline of five months.
The construction of this building, which will have 34 floors, is a joint initiative of the Government and the municipality of Caldera. In March 2023, they signed a collaboration agreement through which the Executive undertakes to make the building a reality on a plot of nearly 800 square meters ceded free of charge by the corporation.
While the common has taken over the cost of excavating the plot, as well as the construction of the building’s parking lot and the ground floor – these are spaces that will be available to the community -, the The construction of six residential floors, right on top of the common’s base structure, is being undertaken by the Government.
The future building on Avinguda del Pessebre is expected to be completed in 2026 and will join the rest of the properties that will feed the public housing stock for rent at an affordable price, which, according to forecasts, within a period of in three years it will have more than 400 flats. This is another part of the multifaceted strategy that the Government is carrying out to respond to the housing problem and which finds other supports in measures such as the extension of rental contracts until 2027 or the Bill for sustainable growth and the right to housing.
Today, the Council of Ministers has also agreed, at the proposal of Minister Conxita Marsol, to transfer the management of the 23-storey building for affordable rent located at Avinguda Sant Joan de Caselles, 99 in Canillo, to the National Housing Institute for its next award. In this case, it is a rental block consisting of 5 floors and 17 1-bedroom flats and 6 two-bedroom flats.
