Andorra la VellaThe Minister of Health, Helena Masshas presented the most prominent lines of action in health for the coming 2025, which focus on oncology, mental health and the development of information systems.
With regard to the first point, the head of Health has announced “the desire to improve the entire oncology care network, providing comprehensive support for the patient and family, from the moment of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up“.
Specifically, with regard to breast cancer, he has announced that between 70% and 80% of patients will be able to undergo surgery in Andorra from January. “In this way, we avoid travel for both the patient and his family members and the environment”, he assured But. In addition, he explained that in 2025 the oncology services of Hospital Nostra Senyora de Meritxell will be integrated into a single plant and differential circuits will be established.
On the other hand, in 2025 the functional plan for the expansion of the Hospital will be drawn up, for which 300,000 euros will be allocated. “This is a strategic project of this legislature that will require combining the activity of the current hospital building with the works of the future, since our will is that they are united”, he affirmed. Regarding the execution of the works, the Government hopes that they can start at the end of this term.
In terms of mental health, the Ministry will continue to promote prevention and promotion actions, through the helpline for suicidal behaviors – since September, 32 calls have been registered, of which two have required actions of imminent rescue -, the emotional support chat – with twenty conversations started -, and with the launch of flats with support for people with mental health pathologies in Solà d’Enclar.
Finally, it is planned that during the first semester of 2025, according to Helena Mas, the second phase of the electronic prescription will be completed, with which medical professionals will be able to prescribe medicines through the Shared Clinical History. During the next year, it is expected to be able to develop the third phase, which will consist of the implementation of computer services so that pharmacies can dispense these medicines.
