Elon Musk’s humanoid robot becomes more human with this improvement

teslatycoon’s electric car company Elon Muskpresented the humanoid robot Optimus in October 2022 to perform low-production tasks at Tesla factories and perform everyday actions autonomously, such as folding clothes or even taking care of children, among others.

After seeing some of Optimus’ capabilities in different videos, one has now been published in which it shows that He has a robotic hand and makes use of it.

This is the new robotic hand of Elon Musk’s Optimus robot

Tesla has presented a short video of just 15 seconds on its profile dedicated to Optimus, the company’s humanoid robot. The clip shows the robot equipped with a articulated hand on his left arm with what is able to catch a ball in the aira simple action for humans, but which represents a very important significant advance for a robot.

Although it is customary for Tesla to maintain discretion about advances, no details on the hand design have been provided nor about the developments necessary to achieve this capacity. This gesture joins other public and private demonstrations that have sought to highlight the capabilities of Optimus, a robot that is still in the process of development and improvement.

Elon Musk has pointed out that Optimus is designed to tackle multiple tasks and distance itself from traditional domestic robots, pretending to be a comprehensive home assistant. These functions will be possible thanks to a set of pressure cameras and sensorswhich will allow the robot to perceive its environment, manipulate objects and perform its tasks efficiently.

As for the future, Tesla’s initial plans call for the second generation of the robot to be available for sale at the end of 2025. In addition, it is expected to begin carrying out “useful” tasks in Tesla factories before the end of this year. However, according to recent statements by Musk, these deadlines may be delayed.
