“How is it possible that identical cases act differently?”

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) made public this Thursday that Iga Swiatek, current number two in the world, had accepted one month ban after testing positive for trimetazidine (TMZ) in a sample taken in August during a period without competition.

The case, which is reminiscent of that of Jannik Sinner that came to light just a few months ago, has caused some colleagues to explode, including Simona Halepwinner of two Grand Slams and removed for doping, and Nick Kyrgiosalways very critical of these topics.

“I sit and try to understand, but it’s really impossible for me to understand something like that. I wonder, Why such a big difference in treatment and judgment? “I don’t find and I don’t think there can be a logical answer,” Halep says in a harsh statement.

“I always believed in good, I believed in the fairness of this sport, I believed in goodness. The injustice that was committed against me was painful, is painful and perhaps always will be. How is it possible that in identical cases that occurred almost at the same time, the AIT has completely different approaches to my detriment. “How could I accept that the WTA and the players’ council did not want to give me back the classification I deserved,” he adds.

“Now the excuse is to say that ‘we didn’t know'”

For his part, the Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has also charged against the reasons that Swiatek has given and the AIT has accepted. He has done it through social networks with a message full of irony, as is usual for him.

“The excuse we can all use is that we didn’t know. We just didn’t know. Professionals at the highest level of the sport can now simply say ‘we didn’t know“says the Australian.

Tara Moore, also very critical

The British Tara Moore has also exploded over the case, comparing it to her situation, as she showed that suffered from eating contaminated meat and even so she was kept away as a precautionary measure for 19 months while her case was being studied.

“It took me 19 months to ‘manage the changes in my team’. Don’t forget that mine was also contamination and two more people also tested positive and there were appeals. “Why doesn’t anyone take the corruption of the organizations that govern us seriously?” he denounces.
