MANILA, Philippines — Kacey Dela Rosa’s 14 consecutive double-double outings in the UAAP Season 87 women’s basketball tournament led to another MVP award.
For the second straight year, the Ateneo center showed her dominance with a league-best 96.286 statistical points after averaging 22.07 points, 16.0 rebounds, and 2.29 blocks — topping all three departments in the elimination round.

The Gilas Pilipinas player joined Cassy Tioseco as the Blue Eagles to win two consecutive UAAP MVPs since the latter won in 2006 and 2007.

The last back-to-back MVP winner was University of Santo Tomas star Grace Irebu in 2018 and 2019. Dela Rosa joins Tioseco, Adamson’s Analyn Almazan (2009-10), and three-time National University MVP Afril Bernardino (2014-16) as consecutive winners.
Dela Rosa, who won the Rookie of the Year in 2022, will be leading the Mythical Five for the third straight year.

Kent Pastrana of defending champion UST was second in the MVP race with 79.857 SPs, helping her team finish second with 15.21 points, 8.36 rebounds, 3.29 assists, and 2.21 steals.
It will be Pastrana’s third Mythical Team selection after being the Season 82 Rookie of the Year with her former school La Salle in 2019 and returning last season with UST.

University of the Philippines guard Louna Ozar was also part of the mythical team with 67.571 SPs with Ateneo center Sarah Makanjuola, who emerged as the top foreign-student athlete with 65.786 SPs, and NU’s Angel Surada after leading their 14-0 elimination round with 62.0 SPs.
Ateneo’s Junize Calago placed fourth in the MVP race with 68.154 SPs but she was disqualified after serving a one-game suspension.
NU’s Cielo Pagdulagan won the Rookie of the Year after placing 10th in the statistical race with 56.571 SPs.
