The team Aston Martin has gone through an unparalleled performance crisis during this season, and part of the previous one. From achieving six podiums in the first eight races of 2023 to not achieving a single point in the last four Grand Prix of Formula 1the Silverstone structure has established itself as one of the red lanterns on the grid, and finally Mike Krack, team leader, has shown his face with an explanation about the poor results.
“We cannot deny it, These are two seasons in which we have not gone forward, we have gone backwards. We have to analyze it carefully because after last year we wanted to reverse that trend and we have not been able to do so,” Krack acknowledged.
The Luxembourger affirms that the impetus to turn around the bad results has caused a chain reaction, causing what many fans already know as ‘worse’: “We have to review it, see how we work on the pieces and how we define the evolutions.. And perhaps take a more careful approach when assessing which parts are brought and with what justification,” the leader of the green garage reviewed in statements collected by Ace.
“Sometimes less is more. As a team we have to improve, it’s been two seasons in a row now and we have to do a better job. There are several conditions that have to be met before pressing the button (enter an improvement) and we have to be careful“Krack explained.
The head of the Aston Martin team, very focused, yes, on 2026, has been harsh with the work done by the team in recent years: “We have to bring the benefits that need to be brought. It’s very simple. The objectives are clear and we have to comply. We have failed with several packages that have not worked on the track as we wanted.”
Krack has not hidden that replacement for Dan Fallows as technical director responds to the plummeting performance of the AMR23 and AMR24: “There is not much to say, This sport is measured by performance and when those performance are not there, there are changes.“.
As for the next car, the Luxembourg engineer has announced that the design work will be distributed: “The tasks have been divided between different people. Bob Bell, CEO and Eric Blandin, head of aerodynamics, will be in charge of the 2025 car“, he stated.
